I decided to be Lady Gaga for Halloween this year because I absolutely LOVE her style and music. She’s amazing. Kicks everyone else in pop music’s asses!
My shoes are slightly too big for my feet (the strap at the back always slips off) so I looped grape juice purple ribbons through the strap and tied them in bows around my ankle. I LOVE it! They’re so cute and it totally solves my problem! woot woot!

1.) Buy 8" stripper shoes (a pair with ankle straps is going to be a win here), gaffer tape, chickenwire or something similar from a craft store and a pair of gloves. I used dishwashing gloves because that was what I had, but something sturdier would be better.
2.) Cut a piece of chicken wire that is 2" taller than the shoes, and has the same length as the circumference of the shoes including the heel.
3.) Make a cut about 5" deep in the wire on both sides about 4" up from the bottom, and wrap the flaps around the plastic platform front. Get it tight, and affix it to itself strongly; this is going to hold the frame to your shoe. I used jewelry wire and "sewed" the chickenwire to itself, then used clear duct tape wrapped around in a circle to stick to itself to make it really solid.
4.) With the frame still on the shoe, eyeball where it needs to bend to make the right shape. You’re going to be folding 2 triangular darts on each side, with the points facing the toe. I put one fold about two inches above the footbed of the shoe and an inch back from the toe on either side, and another one about an inch above that. (This photo shows the frame with the folding.)
5.) Wrap the outside of the frame in gaffer tape, then remove it from the shoe and slap strips of the tape (vertically is easiest) inside as well. The last thing you want is any part of your person ever touching that chicken wire again. Stuff is brutal.
6.) Spraypaint!
7.) Put the shoes on your feet, then slide painted frames back onto the shoes. A bit more tape to attach the frame to the rear ankle of the shoe, and you should be good to go. That bit of taping lasted ~6 hours when I did it.
